    the GM potato that we are going to use as an example is     The NewLeaf Y potatoes that have been approved and released in the market already since 1998 by Monsanto Company. NewLeaf Y potatoes were developed for resistance to the pests Colorado Potato Beetle (cry3A, the gene that produces a protein toxic only to target insects, isolated from the bacteria Bacillus thuringensis tenebrionis, Btt)
